Gap Fill

UK

A gap fill trade bets that a stock which opened sharply lower will move back toward the previous close. This screen lists stocks on the London Stock Exchange that opened more than 3% below yesterday's close but now trade above today's open on at least 1.5 times average volume, so buyers are stepping in. Traders often target the previous close, the top of the gap, and place a stop below the low of the day. LSE prices are quoted in pence, and the list skips thinly traded shares.

Screening formula:
exch(lse) and type(stock) and advol(21) > 50 and gapdn > 3 and c > o and rvol(21) > 1.5 and sortby(gapdn, desc) and show(gapdn as gap_down_pct, rvol(21) as rvol)
