A wide range bar is a day whose high-to-low range is far larger than usual, a sign that something has changed and big players are active. Range expansion often starts a new move. This screen lists stocks on the London Stock Exchange whose range today is more than twice the 21-day average range, on at least 1.5 times average volume. The direction of the close tells you who won the day. LSE prices are quoted in pence, and the list skips thinly traded shares.
