This fund puts nearly all of its money into stocks that make up a specific market index. That index tracks small U.S. companies whose share prices tend to stay relatively stable and do not swing up or down dramatically. It is a way for investors to gain exposure to smaller American businesses while avoiding some of the wilder price movements that can come with this part of the market.
