Gaps usually follow news released outside trading hours, such as earnings, guidance or a deal. Some gaps keep running as buyers pile in, while others fill as early buyers take profits, so traders watch whether the price holds above the opening range. OTC stocks trade outside the major exchanges and are often thinly traded penny stocks; the list covers US OTC stocks with at least $100,000 in average daily trading value.
