Volume Dry-Up

India

When volume dries up while the price holds above its moving averages, few holders are willing to sell. Wyckoff and Minervini traders read this as supply exhaustion, often seen just before the next leg up. This screen lists stocks on the Bombay Stock Exchange trading above the 50-day moving average, with the 50-day above the 200-day, on less than half of their 50-day average volume, quietest first. Prices are in Indian rupees, and the list covers BSE-listed stocks with at least 50 million rupees in average daily trading value.

Screening formula:
exch(bse) and type(stock) and advol(21) > 50 and cvol < 0.5 * avol(50) and price > sma(50) and sma(50) > sma(200) and sortby(cvol / avol(50), asc) and show(cvol / avol(50) as volume_vs_50d_avg)
