Volume Dry-Up

Asia

When volume dries up while the price holds above its moving averages, few holders are willing to sell. Wyckoff and Minervini traders read this as supply exhaustion, often seen just before the next leg up. This screen lists stocks on Asian exchanges trading above the 50-day moving average, with the 50-day above the 200-day, on less than half of their 50-day average volume, quietest first. Prices are in each exchange's local currency, and the list covers stocks traded in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul and Jakarta with at least about US$0.7 million in average daily trading value.

Screening formula:
exch(tse,hkse,ses,krx,ise) and (type(stock) and ((exch(tse) and advol(21) > 100) or (exch(hkse) and advol(21) > 5) or (exch(ses) and advol(21) > 1) or (exch(krx) and advol(21) > 1000) or (exch(ise) and advol(21) > 10000))) and cvol < 0.5 * avol(50) and price > sma(50) and sma(50) > sma(200) and sortby(cvol / avol(50), asc) and show(cvol / avol(50) as volume_vs_50d_avg)
