3 Weeks Tight

Asia

Three weeks tight, three weekly closes within about 1.5% of each other, is a pattern from the CAN SLIM method that Mark Minervini also uses as a sign that institutions are holding their shares and not selling. A breakout above the tight area is a classic add-on or entry point. This screen lists stocks on Asian exchanges that pass the Trend Template (price above a rising 200-day average, 50 > 150 > 200-day averages, at least 25% above the 52-week low, within 25% of the 52-week high and RS 70 or better) and whose last three weekly closes are within 1.5% of each other, highest relative strength first. Prices are in each exchange's local currency, and the list covers stocks traded in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul and Jakarta with at least about US$0.7 million in average daily trading value.

Screening formula:
exch(tse,hkse,ses,krx,ise) and (type(stock) and ((exch(tse) and advol(21) > 100) or (exch(hkse) and advol(21) > 5) or (exch(ses) and advol(21) > 1) or (exch(krx) and advol(21) > 1000) or (exch(ise) and advol(21) > 10000))) and price > sma(50) and sma(50) > sma(150) and sma(150) > sma(200) and sma(200) > sma(200)@21 and price >= 1.25 * w52low and price >= 0.75 * w52high and rs(252) >= 70 and ((max(c, 3) / min(c, 3) - 1) * 100 < 1.5)@weeks and sortby(rs(252), desc) and show(rs(252) as rs_rating)
