This screen finds stocks whose price has just crossed above the high of the previous year, a major breakout to the highest level in more than a year, a sign of a strong long-term trend. The high and low of a completed year mark the range in which buyers and sellers agreed, so they act as natural resistance and support. Moving above the prior high shows that buyers are willing to pay more than at any time in that period.
