This fund puts the vast majority of its money into high-quality bonds, while also holding a mix of municipal securities, convertible securities, preferred stocks, and cash. A smaller portion may be placed in lower-rated bonds and foreign market securities. The fund is designed to keep interest rate risk relatively low, targeting a short average duration of one to three years.
