The fund spreads its investments across stocks, bonds, currencies, commodities, and interest rates, using a mix of five distinct strategies to guide where and how money is deployed. Positions can be taken in either direction ? betting on assets rising or falling ? and exposure is gained either by holding assets outright or through derivative contracts. Derivatives are also used to manage and reduce risk within the portfolio.
