Business Description

Kirby Corporation, founded in 1921 and based in Houston, Texas, is one of the largest inland marine transportation companies in the United States, moving liquid bulk cargo such as petrochemicals, refined petroleum products, and agricultural chemicals across major waterways including the Mississippi River System and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. The company owns and operates a large fleet of tank barges, towboats, and tugboats serving both inland and coastal routes, including Alaska and Hawaii. Beyond water transport, Kirby also runs a distribution and services business that sells, repairs, and manufactures engines, industrial equipment, and energy storage systems for customers in the oil and gas, marine, and power generation industries.
