Business Description
The fund puts the vast majority of its money into catastrophe bonds, which are a type of investment that allows insurance companies to shift the financial risk of major natural disasters onto outside investors. When a qualifying disaster occurs, those investors may lose some or all of their money, while the insurance company uses the funds to cover its losses. Because the fund concentrates heavily in this single type of asset, it carries a higher level of risk than a more broadly spread investment portfolio.
