Founded in 1917 and based in Calgary, Suncor Energy is one of Canada's largest energy companies, with operations spanning oil sands production, offshore and onshore oil exploration, and fuel refining. The company extracts and processes bitumen from Alberta's oil sands, explores for crude oil off Canada's east coast and in select international markets, and refines raw materials into fuels and other petroleum-based products. Suncor also sells refined fuel directly to consumers and trades energy commodities including natural gas and power.
