The Accelerator Oscillator (AO) is a technical indicator developed by Bill Williams to measure the acceleration or deceleration of an asset's momentum. The Accelerator Oscillator is derived from the Awesome Oscillator by subtracting a 5-period simple moving average of the Awesome Oscillator from a 34-period simple moving average of the Awesome Oscillator. The result is a histogram oscillating above and below a zero line, with green bars indicating bullish momentum and red bars showing bearish momentum. The indicator can be used to identify trends and potential entry and exit points for trades. When the histogram is above the zero line, it indicates that the market is experiencing bullish momentum, while a histogram below the zero line suggests bearish momentum. |
