Business Description
Founded in Cambridge, UK in 1990, Arm Holdings designs and licenses the technology behind the processors found in smartphones, cars, data centers, and countless other connected devices. Rather than making chips itself, the company earns revenue by charging semiconductor firms and device manufacturers to use its processor designs and related intellectual property. Arm serves customers across the globe, including major markets in the US, China, Taiwan, and South Korea, and has partnered with IBM to build hardware capable of handling demanding AI and data-heavy tasks. The company is owned by Japanese investment group SoftBank.
