The Bear Hook is a Toby Crabel pattern on a narrow-range bar: the price opens below the previous low and then reverses to close above the previous close. The failed opening gap shakes out early sellers, and Crabel found that after this setup the market often reverses again and moves lower, so traders place a sell stop below the low of the hook bar.
