A Bullish Island Reversal forms at the end of a decline: the price gaps down, trades for one or more bars below the gap, and then gaps up, leaving the lowest bars isolated like an island with gaps on both sides. Everyone who sold into the first gap is suddenly trapped at a loss, so the pattern often marks a sharp bottom and the start of a move higher.
