The Shooting Star is a bearish single-candlestick reversal pattern that forms after an uptrend: it has a small real body near the bottom of the range and a long upper shadow at least twice the size of the body, with little or no lower shadow. It shows that buyers pushed the price sharply higher during the session but sellers drove it back down near the open, and traders usually wait for a lower close on the next bar to confirm the reversal.
