The Bearish Engulfing pattern is a two-candlestick reversal pattern that forms after an uptrend: a small bullish candle is followed by a larger bearish candle whose real body completely engulfs the body of the first one. It shows that sellers have overwhelmed buyers in a single session, and it is considered more reliable when it appears at a resistance level or on above-average volume.
